                              Efficieny Retrofit Details

                              Install vapor barrier in basement and crawlspace:remove all organic material from floor;install continuous, sealed layer of 60-mil rolled rubber roofing over floor and up thebasement walls one-foot. Be sure to seal seams and penetrations in the field (posts,appliances, brick walls).
                              Insulate, crawlspace,install 3” spray urethane foam over entire assembly from just below grade to theunderside of the sub-floor, seal top edge of vapor barrier with spray foam.
                              Insulate/airseal main house bulkhead:insulate exterior of interior bulkhead door w/ 2” extruded polystyrene foam board;airseal all seams and cracks w/ can foam;repair/replace door stops and install high quality expansion gasket to stops.
                              Insulate and airseal main house and ell attics:remove existing insulation & air seal all attic floor penetrations;airseal building seam w/ foamboard and canfoam (fr/ bsmt. if necessary);install 2” spray urethane foam over entire floor assembly, including perimeter top plate;airseal soffit using foamboard and can- or spray foam;install 10” loose fill cellulose over foam board.
                              Airseal chimneys:remove insulation to expose chimney chases;install framing to w/in 2” of the chimneys;install 26 gauge galvanized metal b/t framing and chimney;airseal w/ high-temp adhesive sealant.
                              Airseal upper attic door:install high expansion foam gasket at stops.
                              Install new Panasonic WhisperGreen bathroom exhaust fan (rated 80cfm--continuous) in both bathrooms:hardpipe from fans to exhaust ports in gable end wall.airseal junctions of hard-piping with mastic;install humidistatic switch to fan.

                              Post Retrofit Test Out Data

                              CFM50 = 3,500, a reduction of 1,805 Cubic Feet/Min @-50 Pascals
                              Total Leakage Area in Square Inches = 350,  a reduction of 180 square inches of leakage space, or the equivelent of plugging a 13.4"x13.4" "hole" which was always open
                              ACHn = 0.38 a reduction of 0.26 Air Changes Per Hour un natural conditions
