                              Our Current Building Project
You can have what you desire in your new home: beautiful, safe, comfortable, durable, custom made, affordable, sustainable and energy efficient...its what we do.
What does green building mean to us? It just common sense... build a home that has minimal impact, maximun efficiency, from local material sources, optimizing all aspects of construction, recycling unused material, leaving the earth and you with a building which will endure the tests of time while consuming as few of our rescourses as possible.
                                                                 A sustainable structure...

                              From the ground up.

                              Its all in the details.
The difficulty in new construction is not finding a builder to put up your home, especially in these economically challenged times. The challenge lies in locating a builder who is versed in all aspects of residental construction. Not just the framing, rafter calculation, lay out, etc., but a purposful craftsman, controling each and every aspect of the job, optimizing every phase for safety, durability, efficiency, aesthetics and comprehensive home performance.
Details like those laid out in the illustration above are as important as the structural elements of contstruction. Lack of knowledge or missed steps in the building process can greatly reduce the longevity, efficiency and over all performance of your structure.
As renovators, retrofitters, and restorationists we see the results of poor construction practices regularly. It is all to common to find ones self asking, "Why did they (the builder) do it like this?". Mistakes at the construction site may take years to reveal themselves, or as in the case of building efficiencies they may cost the home owner thousands of  dollars a year beginning at day one. In any case they are avoidable.
At Sustainable Structures, Inc. we pride ourselves on quality. We are well versed in all phases of home construction, from foundations using Insulated Concrete Forms (IFC's), to earth friendly custom finish work, from advanced framing techniques optimizing materials, to an air sealed thermal boundary with Heat Recovery Ventilation (HRV).
Our goal is to do things the right way and we take pride in what we do.
